Explore NZ by foot and on the water

Uretiti

A relaxed start to today with only a 20km paddle in front of me so as to catch up with Kathy. Another couple camped close to me at Parua bay were keen to see how the prep, packing and paddling of the packraft happens, with loads of friendly questions and sharing of stories.

The millpond conditions as I set out were blissful signal-2026-09-09-09-00-48-601 The tide was still ebbing as I made my way past Marsden point with hardly a breath signal-2026-09-09-09-35-44-801 A seal was playing/feeding at the heads and a stingray darted off soon after otherwise all was quiet.

I found the next 10km to be quite tedious as the breeze got up and the sea got choppy. Traveling around the huge Bream bay just seemed to take an age with little differentiation in the coastline.

Uretiti is a lovely campsite with hot showers (if you have a $2 coin).
