Raetea
The worst part of today's expedition was the section of SH1 leaving Kaitaia. Narrow and busy 😕
Once on the secondary roads with little traffic although tedious was much better. It took 6 hours to get to the first campsite on the Mangamuka track at midday.
The second option was pretty small and uninspiring
so carried on to the Raetea summit where I've settled for the night. This picture is from the second campsite looking toward Raetea
The track was muddy and rooty as expected but would have been far more pleasant if cattle had been removed from the area.
