Paroa bay
The wind was forecast to pick up so made an early start as Ngunguru was waking
A pretty but expensive stop now behind me. I enjoyed the first 1/2 of the run down to Pataua but found the last part pretty intense as the sea churned up with the occasional white cap well off shore and a good swell running. I chose a beach in behind Te Whangai head which was a little sheltered but still got rolled on the way in. Not too cold but not ideal.
I'd decided to walk straight across to Paroa bay rather than going around Bream head. A feast at the 4 square then back in the boat for a short paddle up to the freedom camp that actually encourages camping!
