Cambridge
Another blue sky, no wind day, a blissful run down to the dam. Loads of swans nesting and this one hatched

A chap in a rowing skiff appeared beside me and we chatted for 1/4hr before he zipped off effortlessly making my progress seem very pedestrian.
My topo map doesn't show detail but has accurate roads so I landed on the north side at the end of the boom expecting a walk down the road shown to the powerhouse that seemed to run close to the river. I got chatting to a couple of ladies heading to a golf tournament in Taupo and they offered me a cup of tea and a superb muffin. As I walked down the road it became obvious that the south side had access at river level but the north side didn't 😒
Back up and walk across a very skinny dam Rd got me to the right place. I was visited by a keen local fisherman who was very interested in the packraft making for an interesting transition time.
No more dams!!! The river seems excited too and I made rapid progress down through Cambridge. Not very many camping spots but I found a beauty not far down. The river right from Karapiro to here is in a shallow gorge with steep sides and all bush/scrub/blackberry covered.
